Swanton, Vt. - Chief Patrol Agent Daniel B. Doty assumed command of Swanton Sector Border Patrol at 11 a.m. on July 2. Division Chief, Northern and Coastal Operations Salvador Nieto conducted the Oath of Office and passed the Border Patrol Guidon with its green and gold streamers to Chief Doty to symbolize the change in leadership. Yuma, Ariz. - Yuma Sector Border Patrol agents assigned to the Yuma Station foiled a smuggling attempt and seize more than 940 pounds of marijuana late Wednesday evening.At approximately 8:30 p.m., a Yuma Sector enforcement specialist operating a camera deployed along the border observed multiple subjects emerging from a drainage pipe near County 21st and the Colorado River. Arizona Border Patrol Agents Apprehend 27 Undocumented Aliens

Laredo, Texas - Border Patrol agents from the Laredo North station detained 27 undocumented aliens after interdicting a smuggling attempt today. Just after midnight Thursday, agents manning the checkpoint located on Interstate 35 north of Laredo conducted an immigration inspection of the driver of a tractor trailer. (more)

Austin, Texas - The Border Patrol and the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) have partnered together to begin cracking down on commercial truckers who knowingly smuggle illegal weapons, drugs or humans across the Texas-Mexico border. Governor Rick Perry directed the DPS to work with Border Patrol, in an initiative dubbed "Texas Hold 'Em," to revoke the commercial driver licenses of those convicted of felony smuggling. (more)

Two Boaters Rescued from Capsized Boat in Minnesota

Warroad, Minn. - Two boaters needed to be rescued when their 26' SeaArk Voyager house boat capsized north of the Warroad River and the mouth of the Lake of the Woods on June 28.At approximately 3:50 p.m., the United States Coast Guard contacted Border Patrol agents from Warroad Station indicating that they had received a may-day, distress call from an individual.
